Universal Powerline Bus controllers send UPB signals to receivers in order to turn lights and appliances off and on. They can also receive UPB signals and change indicator lights.

Each unit has one switch that controls a single load of up to 900W, and can be field-configured to accept single, double, triple, and quad rockers, as well as 4 and 8-button face plates.

Keypad Load Dimmer Controller (KPLD)

The KPLD Keypad Load Dimmer is an all-in-one Keypad Controller and Light Dimmer in a single package. This new line of controllers incorporates the functionality of our famous KPC Keypad Controllers and a 400W Dimmer Switch.

The KPLD is available in both 6-button and 8-button versions. It can transmit and receive UPB digital commands over the existing electrical wiring to remotely turn ON, OFF, and dim its own lighting load as well as trigger dramatic scenes throughout the home.

Operation

The Keypad Load Dimmer is capable of being a member of up to 16 links or scenes. Scenes allow you to control a single light or multiple lights with one button. Program each button to trigger a different scene, control specific lights or your whole house. Lights will ramp to a desired brightness level at a rate from .8 seconds to 1 hour. Certain lights can dim slowly while others turn off instantly, all controlled with a press of a button.

The dimmer portion is pre-programmed with 7 preset scenes
with a light level to create inviting moods right out of the box. The Dimmer controls incandescent lights, low-voltage halogen, magnetic or dimmable electronic transformers. There is also the capability to set the KPLD to a non-dimming mode in order to control such loads as fluorescent lights.

Programming the pushbuttons will allow different UPB commands for each of four events: single-tap, double-tap, hold and release. The operation of the LEDs can also be configured to extinguish other LEDs when it is illuminated to minimize confusion about which scene is activated. Furthermore each LED can illuminate when an On-type command is transmitted or received and it can extinguish when an Off-type command is transmitted or received or vice versa. The 6-Button version has six backlit horizontal pushbuttons as well as a vertical rocker
pushbutton. The 8-button has eight horizontal pushbuttons. Each horizontal button can be custom engraved (minimal charge) for ease of use and to add beauty and functionality to any room.

The KPLD is a wire-in wall mounted device. Installation is simple - just mount in a wall box and connect to line and neutral.

Easy to Configure

Like all PulseWorx devices, the KPLD can be initially configured using PCS's free UPStart Software setup tool. UPStart enables configuring such parameters as Network Name, Network ID, Unit ID, Room name, Device name, default on light levels,fade rates, LED colors, dimming disable, auto shut-off time, etc. as well as test the operation and communication strength of the device.

The Keypad Controllers are designed to be an integral part of a complete PulseWorx Lighting Control System. Like all PulseWorx devices, the KPLD uses the patented UPB™ powerline communication technology (invented by PCS) to reliably communicate with any other UPB-compatible device(s) over the existing house electrical wires. No new wires are necessary making PulseWorx perfect for retrofit situations. When initial configuration is complete, a single push of a button is all you need to activate any group of lights (or virtually anything else that connects to AC power wiring) throughout the house simultaneously.

Room Controllers work with HLC switches in a room to set scenes, turn the room on and off,and dim and brighten. The Room Controller is an optional device in an HLC System.

The buttons glow dimly to act as a night light. An activated button glows brightly.

Setting a scene, such as reading, watch TV, or dining, is easy and does not require any programming or software. The scenes buttons use a feature of UPB called 'links' that enables switches and room controllers to memorize scenes without a central controller.

A House Status Switch (also known as a House Controller) acts as the master lighting control that shows the status for up to eight rooms. If any light is on in one of its rooms, the button for that room is illuminated. Pressing the House Status Switch button will turn all of the lights in that room on or off.

The default color for a House Status Switch is White. House Status Switch Color Change Kits (HAI Part Number 38A05-color codeCS) are available in White (WH), Ivory (IV), Almond (AL), Light Almond (LTA), Brown (BR), Grey (GR), and Black (BL) colors.

The buttons may be custom laser engraved with their room names using HAI Part Number 38A06-2. House Controllers are an optional device in an HLC System for controlling 8 rooms of lighting when used with an HAI automation controller; however, it can also be used asa general purpose 8 button keypad controller when used with or without an automation controller.

When used with an HAI automation controller, the House Controller acts as a master lighting control, showing the status of the lights in 8 rooms and allowing you to turn the lights on or off in each of these rooms.

If a button is lit, one or more lights in the room is on. Pressing a lighted button turns off all of the lights in that room. When a non-lighted button is pressed all of the lights in that room are turned on.

When used with an HAI automation controller, the House Controller is fully customizable through HAI's standard setup. For example, a House Controller button in a home theatre room may be set to run a program within the automation controller that shuts the room's outside curtains, opens the curtains in front of the theatre screen, adjusts the temperature to a cozy setting, and dims the room's lights to an optimal setting to watch a movie.

When used without an HAI automation controller, the House Controller can also be configured to control lighting scenes throughout the house or to toggle between two different actions (i.e. turn lighting load on...turn lighting load off) each time a pushbutton is pressed. Likewise the LED indicator behind the pushbutton will toggle when the pushbutton is pressed.

The TEC, a programmable timer to automatically control PulseWorx lighting devices at preset times, provides lighting automation without the need for an expensive home management system.

The TEC is part of PCS's PulseWorx line of residential lighting control products that utilize the patented UPB (Universal Powerline Bus) technology. It can be programmed with 20 individual events, which can occur between once a day to once a year. Based on geographic location, a built-in astronomical clock can automatically adjust for sunrise/sunset, leap year and daylight savings. All programmed data is protected by non-volatile memory and can only be changed or deleted by reprogramming, regardless of power outage durations. A factory installed lithium battery maintains accurate time and calendar information.

A computer is used to program the TEC but scheduled events can easilybe disabled from any UPB transmitter. This by no means implies you need to use your computer to disable a scheduled event, only to program it. Due to the TEC receiving capability, the device can listen for a command transmitted from ANY UPB transmitter that is programmed to disable a scheduled event. For example, lights are programmed to turn off at 10:00 every night but your dinner party is running a little long. Disable the pre-programmed event by transmitting a UPB Link command from the KPCD8 near by, without having to log into your computer to make the change. The TEC is smart enough to recognize the command sent, disable the event this time, and re-enable the schedule tomorrow.Note: PCS strongly suggests professional installation of their UPB products.

The Tabletop Pedestal Enclosure, model ZTP2, is used to table mount a Simply Automated, model US2, Universal Dimming Transceiver Base and any of the matching, multi- rocker or push-button faceplates. With the ZTP2, a qualified technician can wire in a quad-rocker switch or even an 8-button controller. Once assembled, the Tabletop controller can be configured to activate other UPB devices, such as lamp modules, dimming switches and UPB lighting scenes.

The Tabletop Pedestal can be located anywhere in the home. They are conveniently used on a bedside nightstand, on the desk in a home office or next to the favorite TV recliner. No additional wiring is required and no radio frequency signals are used.

This UPB Controller, Scheduler/Timer was designed for ease of use and maximum functionality. Once the unit is set for time, date and location (zip code or latitude and longitude) only one intuitive display is used to setup events. Once the Scheduler-Timer has been set-up, the User can rely on timely lighting and not worry about making changes for seasons or adjusting the time.



The Scheduler-Timer will automatically adjust time referenced to the nationally synchronized power grid; it knows when daylight savings and leap years occur and even when the sun rises and sets for your location. In the event of a power loss, the programs are stored in non-volatile memory and will not be lost; and time will be maintained with power off for approximately one week. The 38A141 is used for controlling rooms of HLC lighting by sending infrared (IR) signals to a 38A001 6-Button Scene Switches with IR Receivers. To activate lighting, point the 38A141 Remote Control at a 38A001 Scene Switch and press the desired buttons. The buttons on the 38A141 simulate pressing the pushbuttons on the 38A001. The room can be turned on and off, dimmed, brightened, or set to a scene (A-D).

LCP-U Lighting Control Panel was developed to simplify the installation of PulseWorx UPB Lighting Control Systems. The LCP-U panel was designed to house upto ten WS1D-24, fifteen WS1D-15, or twenty WS1D-6 dimmers, controlling up to twenty individual circuits and delivering up to 24,000W of power.

All of the above dimmers can each be connected to one or more remote slave switches (with one line-voltage traveler) enabling hard-wired on/off/dimming control of each circuit. All WS1D Dimmers can also control low-voltage magnetic loads, such as outdoor lighting.

The LCP can also accommodate any single, double or four gang devices. This is ideal for new construction.

Using LCP panels to centralize lighting controls offers several distinct advantages:

Scenes or individually control is handled thru this elegant wide viewing angle customizable 3.6 inch ¼ VGA TFT touch-responsive LCD display over the existing power wiring.

You can control 250 individual lights or trigger custom scenes and even regulate 99 scheduled events from one central place within 50 feet of an available electrical outlet. The TST with exceptional brightness and high contras is available in two versions, one mounting in a standard 2 gang electrical box (TSTWB & TSTWW) and an elegant black a table top (TSTDB) enclosure.

An IR remote option is available allowing control of scenes via a handheld IR remote control.

By using the TouchUP Graphical User Interface (GUI) Software, this will enable you to create up to 99 schedules which will automatically control any UPB device or link at pre-set times and/or days. Timed Events may be specified as absolute times or as times relative plus or minus to dusk or dawn. The unit is self contained and battery backed up in case of power failure to protect the astronomical settings for over 24 hours.

By importing your existing UPStart configuration file into the TouchUP software, you can save time, manage Room, Module, Scene and Schedule Buttons to create your own personal display. Status indication of intensity and activation are standard features.
