There once was a product called "PowerMid", originally made by X-10 and sold through Radio Shack, that sent infrared signals picked up by one little pyramid shaped object, through the air with radio frequencies, to a second unit that would then blink the IR signal into your target device. Other, similar, RF products followed. We've used them all, and as with most inexpensive wireless products we try, they suffered terribly from range and interference problems. So we won't touch them. Wires can sometimes be a pain to install, but wires work .
The easiest way to get set up with an IR Distribution System is to purchase a kit. This contains all the pieces necessary for a typical systems. Just choose the right kit for your needs. Check out our tutorials if you need help. Or call in. We'll ask you what kind of form-factor you are looking for in the IR Pickup, what TV(s) will be nearby (for IR interference reasons), how far away the equipment is, and how many devices you're going to be controlling. Armed with this information, we can select the appropriate kit or individual components.
