The MRF-260 is a compact, fully addressable RF base station compatible with URC's many Narrow Band-equipped remote controls. The base station features an integrated Narrow Band receiver and antenna, two fixed line outputs for IR emitters, and two adjustable, or variable, line outputs. Each adjustable output can be matched to the IR input on any component that a standard IR repeater can operate.

Radio Frequency (RF) Range

The base station extends the reception range for flawless connectivity from compatible remotes up to 100 feet away through walls, floors and doors, indoors or outdoors. It eliminates the line-of-sight requirement, and can even be concealed in cabinets for true "Barrier Free" control.

The Narrow Band capability offers significant installation advantages. In addition to improving devices' range and reliability, it improves spurious adjacent signal rejection, ignoring unneeded signals. A bright red LED status light flickers to alert users to the presence of RF interference.

15 Different Locations

The MRF-260 can be programmed to operate equipment at up to 15 locations, like a den or a bedroom, anywhere in a house by installing an MRF-260 at each location. It also works with such devices as URC's breakthrough MSC-400 Master System Controller, which seamlessly harnesses the power of sophisticated home entertainment systems, providing options and advantages not otherwise available.

Miscellaneous

Four shallow grooves on the top panel of the MRF-260 accept standard Brother P-Touch® self-adhesive labels, allowing installers to easily identify each component connected to the corresponding outputs. The base station is designed for use with standard 3.5 mm plugs.

Improved spurious adjacent signal rejection
The MRF-350 receives Narrow Band RF (radio frequency) signals via the RFX-250 RF Sensor (antenna module). The RFX-250 displays RF interference via a bright red LED which flickers when interference is present. Simply relocate the RFX-250 out of the interference area to resolve the problem.

Expand range by adding RFX-250 RF Sensors in remote areas
The MRF-350 can power up to three RFX-250 RF Sensors connected in parallel to the RF Input connector.

Variable IR output matches rear panel inputs
The MRF-350 is equipped with adjustable IR line outputs. Each output can be individually matched to rear panel IR inputs on any component that is designed to be operated by a standard IR repeater. The outputs utilize a 3.5 mm jack.

The MRF-350 has six "addressable" IR Line Outputs. For example, you can control up to six identical TVs with one MRF-350 or route volume commands for a specific zone to a particular zone IR input on a multi-zone pre-amp. If you have more than six identical components or zones, up to 15 MRF-350s can be separately installed to control them--thereby allowing up to 90 identical components or zones in one house.

The MRF-350 is compatible with the MX-3000, MX-980, TX-1000, MX-950 and MX-900, MX-850, MX-810, MX-650, MX-350 universal remote control. Each can be programmed to specifically control components in a particular room by installing a base station at each location. In operation, it's simple: when you select a device located in the Den, the remote only send commands to the Den. When you select a device located in the Family Room, the remote only sends commands to it.

IR Input for multi-zone loop through, keypads or IR repeater systems
The MRF-350's rear panel IR input will relay IR data from IR repeaters or multi-zone keypads to all IR line outputs (does not support IR routing). The 5V, 100mA output will power some keypads directly.

Six buttons to the right of the screen are labeled based on what a user is watching or listening to, and change accordingly. Someone 'Watching TV,' for example, will see a list of buttons useful to that activity. If he selects 'DVD,' the buttons will automatically change to control the DVD -- making operation of the system simple, fluid and intuitive.

To further enhance customized installation, the keypad comes with three sets of keycaps for the top buttons. One set has no labels. The other two simplify volume control (Volume Up, Mute and Volume Down) and transport control (Seek-, Shuffle and Seek+). The KP-900 can be added to the kitchen, the bedroom, the bath, -- or independently to each location. Interoperability
The KP-900 is also compatible with URC's pioneering MSC-400 Master System Controller, which provides installers with options and advantages not otherwise available, including triggered macros, RS-232 and relay control, video and voltage sensors, among other features.

For homes that already have wall-mounted volume controls, adding a KP-900 keypad lets users operate their systems from whatever room they're in. They can turn the system on or off, select what to listen to or watch, change songs, CDs, channels, sources, and more. They can harness previously unused features their components might already possess, like second zone outputs, and use the keypad anywhere in the room by simply lifting it from its home bracket.

Programmed to Please

The KP-900 is designed to be professionally programmed using proprietary URC software through a Windows PC equipped with a USB port. The software is available at no extra cost from the URC Web site, www.universalremote.com. While a basic set-up only takes a few minutes, fully automating an A/V system requires a detailed knowledge of the equipment, the user's preferences, and how the system is connected.

The KP-900 boasts a generous 4 Megabits of user-configurable Flash memory, which supports up to 400 full pages of commands that can be distributed into as many as 255 devices. Additional features include a 255-color backlighting palette for the LCD display, one-touch blue backlighting for all the hard buttons, the ability to learn new IR commands, a small integrated speaker for audible feedback, a built-in sleep timer, and a USB cable. Four AAA batteries supply reliable, long-lasting power.

The RFX-250 receives radio signals from a remote control and relays them via cable back to the MSC-400 master System Controller or MRF-350 Base Station. Advanced Narrow Band receiving circuitry provides longer range and minimizes interference, providing for more reliable system operation. Its compact size enables the RFX-250 to be placed out of sight.

The RFX-250 displays RF interference via a bright red LED which flickers when interference is present. Simply relocate the RFX-250 out of the interference area. The RFX-250 is separately mounted in the interference-free location and connected to the MSC-400 or MRF-350 base station by a three conductor cable up to 150 feet away.

By combining additional RFX-250 antenna modules in parallel using a three conductor wire connected to a centrally located base station, custom installers can extend "no more pointing" RF automation to all areas and rooms of even the largest estates.

One RFX-250 Narrow Band RF Sensor is included with the MSC-400 Master System Controller and with the MRF-350 Multi-Zone RF Base Station. Additional units can be purchased separately.

Note: The RFX-250 uses Narrow Band RF and is perfectly tuned and matched to operate with the MX-3000, MX-980, TX-1000, MX-950, MX-810 and MX-900 remote controls. It is not compatible with any other remotes.

No More Pointing - RF Capabilites

Radio Frequency (RF) operation provides up to 100' range though walls, floors and doors, indoors or outdoors. Self-adhesive "emitters" affix to the infrared sensors on the front panels of your components. The emitters relay IR commands to components out of sight to the MRF-250's/MRF-300's RF base station front blaster. PC Programmable

The MX-810 is PC-powered, programmable by any Windows-compatible laptop or desktop computer with a USB port. An installer can set up the remote by connecting a PC, then following the instructions of an onscreen programming Wizard. This can be done in advance or onsite, with a laptop in the Home Theater being programmed. The laptop need not be connected to the Internet. The programming Wizard guides the selection of operating instructions for any combination of A/V components, in part through effortless access to the world's best library of professional control codes.

Color & Graphics

The MX-810 can also be customized with a broad array of graphic "themes," including one-of-a-kind graphics provided by the remote's owner. Installers can ask the remote for Help at any point in the process, and be guided to an answer through an intelligent, context-sensitive response process.

Once programmed, the MX-810's color screen labels the six adjacent buttons with whatever functions are needed at the moment. The labels for the buttons change based on what the user is watching or listening to. If a user selects "Watching TV," he or she will see a list of buttons useful for watching TV. If a user selects "DVD," the buttons will control the DVD player.

Additional features include a motion sensor that automatically turns on the LCD screen when the remote is picked up, and a one-touch blue backlight that ensures the MX-810 can be used easily in dim or darkened rooms. A small integrated speaker optionally beeps in response to button pushes, indicating the remote has understood the instruction. A built-in time/date display, low-battery alert, rechargeable lithium ion battery, and a supplied USB programming cable further enhance its convenience and ease of use.

Color with OpenArchitecture Programming

Color Graphics, But Text Based,
The 2" (176 x 220) pixel screen is populated with colorful backgrounds and icons automatically. When programming, the installer focuses on text label customization instead of arranging icons. Any button can be dragged and dropped to any position via the power of MX-880 Editor.

Fast, Structured Programming

Instead of reprogramming a similar system, programmers can freely import codes and macros from MX-900 files via Device Import, or simply open an MX-900 file in MX-880 Editor and make modifications to it, then save it as an MX-880 file.

When starting from scratch, MX-880's open architecture enables the installer to start a new project with any template. By following the steps of the Program Menu, the installer quickly creates a finished working setup. Once tested and refined, the installer can freely experiment with any of the Color Graphic themes without affecting the setup. Additionally, companies with their own custom graphics can add them to the visible themes in the Editor by simply
creating matching and correctly sized artwork in a new folder in the Graphics directory of MX-880 Editor.

Powerful Macro Programming

Macro programming in MX-880 Editor enables the installer to freely create sophisticated status screens in macros, since there is no limit to the number of page jumps inside a macro. With the ability to nest a macro inside another macro, an installer can create a complex routine, label it descriptively and simply alias to it in one step. Variables can be used to track power status, users, rooms, or to create options that change in all macros based on one button press by the user.

Narrow Band RF in either
418MHz or 433MHz

Narrow Band ensures that broad
band RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) will be ignored. However, RFI can also be site specific and centered on a particular band. For this reason, the MX-880 can be specified in either the standard 418MHz version or the MX-880i 433MHz Narrow Band version. Ensure reliability with the Narrow Band RFX-250 or RFX-250i (433MHz). The RFX-250 is included with both the MRF-350 Routing Base Station and the MSC-400 Master System Controller (specify "i" series for 433 MHz versions).

MSC-400 Compatibility

The MX-880 is compatible with the ultra-reliable MSC-400 "Trigger" protocol, which enables complex macros, stored in the MSC-400, to be individually triggered with a single button push on the MX-880 regardless of the interference and noise in the environment. The combination of very narrow transmission of digitally encoded packets sent THREE times at digital speeds in milliseconds assures that every button press on the remote will be received by the MSC-400. The MSC-400's sophisticated error correction circuitry stores all three packets and compares them. Once two packets are identified as identical, the MSC-400 goes to work. This new technology not only increases range, but increases reliability by a vast margin.

Selecting a New "Activity"

WATCH and LISTEN buttons on the MX-980 display activities users can control. When a user wants to watch something else (a DVD, a videotape or an HDTV broadcast), he or she simply presses the WATCH button and selects the new activity. When a user wants to listen to the radio or a CD, he or she touches LISTEN. Then, with the press of the button, the MX-980 automates the entire routine of turning on components, selecting inputs and favorites, even resetting the lights to the optimum scene for the selected activity.

OpenArchitecture PC Editor

The MX-980's unique OpenArchitectureTM PC Editor provides professional installers with new solutions to the age-old problem of automating a central system as well as local TVs, cable or satellite receivers, and even local surround systems in secondary rooms like bedrooms and offices. Built-In Versatility

In the central system, for example, the MX-980 can trigger sophisticated smart macros, RS232 and relay controls via a centrally installed MSC-400 Master Controller.
