MRF-260
RF Multi-Channel Receiver
The MRF-260 is a compact, fully addressable RF base station compatible with URC's many Narrow Band-equipped remote controls. The base station features an integrated Narrow Band receiver and antenna, two fixed line outputs for IR emitters, and two adjustable, or variable, line outputs. Each adjustable output can be matched to the IR input on any component that a standard IR repeater can operate.

Radio Frequency (RF) Range

The base station extends the reception range for flawless connectivity from compatible remotes up to 100 feet away through walls, floors and doors, indoors or outdoors. It eliminates the line-of-sight requirement, and can even be concealed in cabinets for true "Barrier Free" control.

The Narrow Band capability offers significant installation advantages. In addition to improving devices' range and reliability, it improves spurious adjacent signal rejection, ignoring unneeded signals. A bright red LED status light flickers to alert users to the presence of RF interference.

15 Different Locations

The MRF-260 can be programmed to operate equipment at up to 15 locations, like a den or a bedroom, anywhere in a house by installing an MRF-260 at each location. It also works with such devices as URC's breakthrough MSC-400 Master System Controller, which seamlessly harnesses the power of sophisticated home entertainment systems, providing options and advantages not otherwise available.

Miscellaneous

Four shallow grooves on the top panel of the MRF-260 accept standard Brother P-Touch® self-adhesive labels, allowing installers to easily identify each component connected to the corresponding outputs. The base station is designed for use with standard 3.5 mm plugs.

MRF350
Addressable RF Base Station
Improved spurious adjacent signal rejection
The MRF-350 receives Narrow Band RF (radio frequency) signals via the RFX-250 RF Sensor (antenna module). The RFX-250 displays RF interference via a bright red LED which flickers when interference is present. Simply relocate the RFX-250 out of the interference area to resolve the problem.

Expand range by adding RFX-250 RF Sensors in remote areas
The MRF-350 can power up to three RFX-250 RF Sensors connected in parallel to the RF Input connector.

Variable IR output matches rear panel inputs
The MRF-350 is equipped with adjustable IR line outputs. Each output can be individually matched to rear panel IR inputs on any component that is designed to be operated by a standard IR repeater. The outputs utilize a 3.5 mm jack.

Control six identical components or zones --
Up to fifteen MRF-350s in the same installation

The MRF-350 has six "addressable" IR Line Outputs. For example, you can control up to six identical TVs with one MRF-350 or route volume commands for a specific zone to a particular zone IR input on a multi-zone pre-amp. If you have more than six identical components or zones, up to 15 MRF-350s can be separately installed to control them--thereby allowing up to 90 identical components or zones in one house.

The MRF-350 is compatible with the MX-3000, MX-980, TX-1000, MX-950 and MX-900, MX-850, MX-810, MX-650, MX-350 universal remote control. Each can be programmed to specifically control components in a particular room by installing a base station at each location. In operation, it's simple: when you select a device located in the Den, the remote only send commands to the Den. When you select a device located in the Family Room, the remote only sends commands to it.

IR Input for multi-zone loop through, keypads or IR repeater systems
The MRF-350's rear panel IR input will relay IR data from IR repeaters or multi-zone keypads to all IR line outputs (does not support IR routing). The 5V, 100mA output will power some keypads directly.

KP-900
Wireless Keypad Remote, IR/RF
Introducing the KP-900 Wireless Keypad Remote Control

No wires to pull--the KP-900 Keypad Remote is completely wireless. Powered by four easy-to-replace AAA batteries, it can be easily removed from the wall bracket for convenient handheld use as an IR and RF remote control. The keypad can be mounted on any surface--brick, sheetrock or plaster--using the included four small screws. And the built-in magnets allow it to stick to metal surfaces--even most refrigerators. It features backlit, laser etched buttons and a bright backlit LCD for easy text-based control.

No More Wires
The KP-900 is a powerful keypad remote that controls all audio and video equipment in a home, simplifying and automating the operation of even the most complex Home Theater system to achieve an extraordinary combination of power and flexibility. It can be mounted on a wall AND used as a handheld remote, making it ideal for retrofitting into homes with existing entertainment systems, as well as for new homes.

Perfect For Retrofit Installations
Four simple screws attach the KP-900's bracket to a wall, eliminating the expense and inconvenience of running new wires or opening the wall to add new wires. The keypad can be mounted in any room, and anywhere in a room. It can be used on the wall in its bracket, independently as a handheld, or affixed to a refrigerator or other metal surface thanks to a built-in magnet. The keypad is compatible with iPods and other portable music players, and comes in three decorator-friendly finishes -- white, light almond and black.

The KP-900 is equipped with a bright, easy to read, backlit LCD screen, and injection-molded backlit buttons with laser-etched labeling. Six buttons to the right of the screen are labeled based on what a user is watching or listening to, and change accordingly. Someone 'Watching TV,' for example, will see a list of buttons useful to that activity. If he selects 'DVD,' the buttons will automatically change to control the DVD -- making operation of the system simple, fluid and intuitive.

To further enhance customized installation, the keypad comes with three sets of keycaps for the top buttons. One set has no labels. The other two simplify volume control (Volume Up, Mute and Volume Down) and transport control (Seek-, Shuffle and Seek+). They help installers more perfectly adapt the keypad to specific systems and user preferences, and cannot be removed once installed.

Any Room, Anywhere
The KP-900 can be added to the kitchen, the bedroom, the bath, -- or independently to each location. Equally important, there's no need to break into walls to add new wiring, since the KP-900 is completely wireless. It operates using Infrared (IR) signals with a range of 30-50 feet, or Radio Frequency (RF) signals with a range of 50-100 feet when used with an optional MRF-350 or MRF-260 RF Base Station. In RF mode, components can be controlled without pointing at them, and even if they are in other rooms, hidden in cabinets, or are behind closed doors.

Interoperability
The KP-900 is also compatible with URC's pioneering MSC-400 Master System Controller, which provides installers with options and advantages not otherwise available, including triggered macros, RS-232 and relay control, video and voltage sensors, among other features.

For homes that already have wall-mounted volume controls, adding a KP-900 keypad lets users operate their systems from whatever room they're in. They can turn the system on or off, select what to listen to or watch, change songs, CDs, channels, sources, and more. They can harness previously unused features their components might already possess, like second zone outputs, and use the keypad anywhere in the room by simply lifting it from its home bracket.

Programmed to Please

The KP-900 is designed to be professionally programmed using proprietary URC software through a Windows PC equipped with a USB port. The software is available at no extra cost from the URC Web site, www.universalremote.com. While a basic set-up only takes a few minutes, fully automating an A/V system requires a detailed knowledge of the equipment, the user's preferences, and how the system is connected.

The KP-900 boasts a generous 4 Megabits of user-configurable Flash memory, which supports up to 400 full pages of commands that can be distributed into as many as 255 devices. Additional features include a 255-color backlighting palette for the LCD display, one-touch blue backlighting for all the hard buttons, the ability to learn new IR commands, a small integrated speaker for audible feedback, a built-in sleep timer, and a USB cable. Four AAA batteries supply reliable, long-lasting power.

RFX-250
RF Extender for MRF350
The RFX-250 receives radio signals from a remote control and relays them via cable back to the MSC-400 master System Controller or MRF-350 Base Station. Advanced Narrow Band receiving circuitry provides longer range and minimizes interference, providing for more reliable system operation. Its compact size enables the RFX-250 to be placed out of sight.

The RFX-250 displays RF interference via a bright red LED which flickers when interference is present. Simply relocate the RFX-250 out of the interference area. The RFX-250 is separately mounted in the interference-free location and connected to the MSC-400 or MRF-350 base station by a three conductor cable up to 150 feet away.

By combining additional RFX-250 antenna modules in parallel using a three conductor wire connected to a centrally located base station, custom installers can extend "no more pointing" RF automation to all areas and rooms of even the largest estates.

One RFX-250 Narrow Band RF Sensor is included with the MSC-400 Master System Controller and with the MRF-350 Multi-Zone RF Base Station. Additional units can be purchased separately.

Note: The RFX-250 uses Narrow Band RF and is perfectly tuned and matched to operate with the MX-3000, MX-980, TX-1000, MX-950, MX-810 and MX-900 remote controls. It is not compatible with any other remotes.

MX-450
Home Theater Master IR/RF
Delight Clients with Bright Color and Great Ergonomics

The new URC MX-450 delivers an easy to sell cutting edge form factor, extraordinary functionality and a beautiful color display. The graphical user interface is bright and easily backlit at the touch of the Light button. Engaging graphical icons for devices, activities and the most popular channels are all pre-programmed.

View and Edit Macros on Screen

Macro programming is a critical function for delivering a specific sequence of commands to a variety of components in order to provide clients with an easy to use system. In all past standalone programmed remotes, installers were faced with the challenging task of programming macros without being able to modify their work on the fly. Thus, if one step is wrong in the macro (for example, one delay is too short) the entire macro had to be deleted and completely re-programmed. Until now, that is.

The MX-450's most revolutionary feature is Macro Editing. This has never been seen before in a standalone programmed remote. At last, the programmer can see the actual macro steps clearly displayed on the remote control's screen. Fine tuning, reordering, adjusting delays and adding steps to the macros can now be done without deleting previous work!

Eliminate Programming Bottlenecks!

Specify MX-450s for secondary rooms and areas. There is a very strong demand for lower priced controllers to operate modest priced home theaters and secondary rooms in larger installations, such as master bedrooms, studies and kitchens. Many dealers do not provide all of their installers with laptops, making in-home remote control programming by a PC equipped programmer a bottleneck to production. As a result, dealers utilize remotes that program standalone, without a PC. Installers forced to setup these standalone programming remotes are often frustrated in any attempt to make the remote automate the system using macros.

MX-3000
Touch-Screen Remote
In a unique synthesis of hardware and software engineering, Universal Remote Control has revolutionized the standards of custom installers for color touch screen automation. The Home Theater Master MX-3000 offers some superficial similarities to previous touch screen offerings. However, in this review of the hardware and software specifications, it should be clear that the power of this new design offers custom installers and end users long needed relief in a number of key areas.

The twin goals of the design team were to improve the elegance and usability of touch screens through the physical design while streamlining the programming process to REDUCE THE TIME required to install a touch screen.

MX-6000
WiFi Two-Way Color Touchscreen
WiFi Speed Brings Cover Art, Artist, Album and Titles to the Touch Screen!

The revolutionary MX-6000 brings the power of WiFi networking to the home theater, without compromising simplicity. The MX-6000 is the first home theater remote control to offer two independent communications and control methods simultaneously. The MX-6000 provides both a narrow band 418 MHz transmitter for instant control of conventional home theater components and a WiFi transceiver for high speed transfer of cover art, artist, album and title metadata. The high speed of the built-in 802.11 B/G WiFi transceiver enables the MX-6000 to display lists of artists, albums or songs and to display the cover art of the selected album on the Now Playing screen of the remote control.

Internet Connection Provides Real Time News, Sports, Weather and Stocks

When the MX-6000 is connected to the Internet, pre-programmed modules enable instant access to personalized news, sports, weather and stocks. Unlike other devices, the MX-6000's news, sports, weather and stocks modules are user-configurable without a programmer or a PC. On a whim, you can check out the opposing team's scores, or get the weather forecast for a vacation destination. News, Sports, Weather and Stocks modules require that the MX-6000 be installed to a WiFi router with an Internet connection.

Narrow Band RF for Instant Control

The MX-6000 offers home theater owners instant no rules control of AV receivers, flat screen TVs, projectors, cable and satellite receivers, DVD players and changers. Unlike other WiFi remote controls, the MX-6000 uses a second RF (Radio Frequency) transmitter to control conventional gear instantly, without the frustrating delay of waiting for the remote control to "join the network" when you simply want to turn the system on. There are three possible companion RF base stations that provide instant control. The MSC-400 Master System Controller enhances the capabilities of the MX-6000 by storing and issuing Smart Macros to your main system components. These smart macro commands offer the ultimate in reliability and speed, since a single command, measuring fractions of a second, can trigger long complex macro routines with RS-232, IR, relays or even USB keyboard commands to a PC.

The MRF-350 and MRF-260 RF base stations enable an MX-6000 to address or route IR commands to conventional components anywhere in your home. By placing MRF base stations near your TVs, cable/sat receivers and other conventional IR controlled components, you can enjoy instant, no pointing, no rules operation everywhere in your home.

PC Server for MX-6000

Instead of purchasing an expensive "Media PC" or dedicated music server, any PC with iTunes and/or Windows Media Player can be connected to your audio system to act as a high powered music server with the most engaging, intuitive user interface you've ever seen.

MX-6000 Server is a software application that once installed on a PC, combines your iTunes library with your Media Player library. The MX-6000 utilizes its network connection via WiFi to communicate with the server software on the PC. Since all communication happens at WiFi "G" speeds, there are no lags or delays displaying the information or lists on the screen of the MX-6000. All your cover art, artist, album and song title metadata appear on the screen of the MX-6000. Lists are navigated via the integrated scroll wheel without ever connecting a keyboard or mouse to the PC. At last, you have access to all the music you've paid for... all the music you want without the hassles... the music simply plays...

Reinventing the Touch Screen

Automatic Backlighting The integral motion sensor detects any movement of the touch screen and automatically backlights the screen. The user does not have to press any button to display the screen. Any movement of the MX-6000 renews the backlighting. Without movement, the touch screen stays lit for 1 to 99 seconds (programmed by the installer). Not Just Color, Animated Color! Powered by a 533MHz ARM9 microprocessor, the MX-6000 is the first touch screen designed for animation. The powerful central processor enables quick, fluid page transitions and animated macros.

The 4.3" screen offers a 480x272 pixel window to any graphic. Your professional installer can place BMPs, JPEGs, GIFs, animated GIFs or FLASH
SWF files in your configuration. The World of Sound Equipped with a speaker and a PC recording, your installer can add talking help buttons (recorded on any PC with a microphone) or music to your macros via any WAV file.

Double Capacity Lithium Ion Batteries and Charging Base

The demands of WiFi and high speed transfers coupled with a large color touch screen raise the demand for power to a new high. The MX-6000 is equipped with a unique double capacity Lithium Ion battery, providing over 4 hours of continuous use before recharging is necessary. Should the MX-6000 be left on a table, it will remain in standby mode for ten (10) days without requiring a recharge. The attractive charging base offers an ideal angle to use while charging, so may be placed on or near your chair. In addition, the MX-6000 offers a power input on its side panel, so that it can be hand held while charging directly from the power adapter.

MX-6000

MX-810
Home Theater Master, IR/RF
Fast Customization and Consistent Ergonomics in Every Room

Stylish and state-of-the-art, the MX-810 provides Home Theater owners and professional installers with dedicated, custom control over single-room Home Theaters or AV entertainment systems. It's an ideal remote for single-room Home Theater systems, as well as homes with multiple AV systems and more than one remote control, as each MX-810 remains dedicated to a single room's equipment, complete with a user-changeable label identifying the room.

The MX-810 is also pragmatic -- as easy for owners to use as it is quick for installers to program, achieving a unique synergy of power and flexibility that automates and simplifies the operation of even the most complex Home Theaters.

Narrow Band Radio Frequency (RF)

Featuring Radio Frequency (RF) addressability and a bright, color LCD display, the MX-810's readiness for programming allows custom installers to put any command on any LCD page, and fully personalize the screen's iconography for any and every user. The RF capability also eliminates the need to point the remote at whatever it's activating, or even remain in the line of sight of any equipment. It can control components up to 100 feet away from locations throughout a home, even components concealed in cabinets or behind doors.

Power Plus Compatibility

Equally important, the MX-810 is fully compatible with URC's pioneering MSC-400 Master System Controller. The MSC-400 seamlessly harnesses the power of sophisticated home entertainment systems, providing installers with options and advantages not otherwise available. It offers triggered macros, RS-232 and relay control, video and voltage sensors, rock-solid Narrow Band RF and many more features -- taming systems' complexity, while delivering unmatched flexibility, automation power, installation speed, and diagnostic capabilities.

The remote's addressability feature lets it communicate with a specific location or device, like the Master Controller, and comfortably co-exist with other RF remotes in a home, and AV systems in other rooms.
Custom programming a complex Home Theater is one of the most challenging aspects of an audio/video installation. Setting a Theater system to play a DVD with just one button, for example, can require programming a macro that instructs the screen to lower, the lights to dim, window shades to close, the projector and sound system to turn on, and the DVD player to start, while also making sure the cable box and iPod dock are turned off. The MX-810's compatibility with the MSC-400 makes such tasks easy for installers to program and easy for clients to use.

Built-In Versatility

With or without the MSC-400, the MX-810 is a powerful, versatile remote that revolutionizes the remote control experience for anyone who prefers a light, hand-held interface. The newest member of URC's family of Complete Control products, it delivers automation solutions for every purpose and superior entertainment for everyone who prefers to operate their systems as they wish, not as the equipment seems to dictate.

The MX-810 features a big, bright, active matrix LCD, larger and more vivid than comparable remotes, and a broad array of snappy, iconic graphics readable at a glance. It provides access to a vast array of custom control solutions, available free of charge on proprietary software online at the URC Control Room.

PC Programmable

The MX-810 is PC-powered, programmable by any Windows-compatible laptop or desktop computer with a USB port. An installer can set up the remote by connecting a PC, then following the instructions of an onscreen programming Wizard. This can be done in advance or onsite, with a laptop in the Home Theater being programmed. The laptop need not be connected to the Internet. The programming Wizard guides the selection of operating instructions for any combination of A/V components, in part through effortless access to the world's best library of professional control codes.

Color & Graphics

The MX-810 can also be customized with a broad array of graphic "themes," including one-of-a-kind graphics provided by the remote's owner. Installers can ask the remote for Help at any point in the process, and be guided to an answer through an intelligent, context-sensitive response process.

Once programmed, the MX-810's color screen labels the six adjacent buttons with whatever functions are needed at the moment. The labels for the buttons change based on what the user is watching or listening to. If a user selects "Watching TV," he or she will see a list of buttons useful for watching TV. If a user selects "DVD," the buttons will control the DVD player.

Additional features include a motion sensor that automatically turns on the LCD screen when the remote is picked up, and a one-touch blue backlight that ensures the MX-810 can be used easily in dim or darkened rooms. A small integrated speaker optionally beeps in response to button pushes, indicating the remote has understood the instruction. A built-in time/date display, low-battery alert, rechargeable lithium ion battery, and a supplied USB programming cable further enhance its convenience and ease of use.

MX-880
Home Theater Master, IR/RF
Color with OpenArchitecture Programming

Color Graphics, But Text Based,
The 2" (176 x 220) pixel screen is populated with colorful backgrounds and icons automatically. When programming, the installer focuses on text label customization instead of arranging icons. Any button can be dragged and dropped to any position via the power of MX-880 Editor.

Fast, Structured Programming

Instead of reprogramming a similar system, programmers can freely import codes and macros from MX-900 files via Device Import, or simply open an MX-900 file in MX-880 Editor and make modifications to it, then save it as an MX-880 file.

When starting from scratch, MX-880's open architecture enables the installer to start a new project with any template. By following the steps of the Program Menu, the installer quickly creates a finished working setup. Once tested and refined, the installer can freely experiment with any of the Color Graphic themes without affecting the setup. Additionally, companies with their own custom graphics can add them to the visible themes in the Editor by simply
creating matching and correctly sized artwork in a new folder in the Graphics directory of MX-880 Editor.

Powerful Macro Programming

Macro programming in MX-880 Editor enables the installer to freely create sophisticated status screens in macros, since there is no limit to the number of page jumps inside a macro. With the ability to nest a macro inside another macro, an installer can create a complex routine, label it descriptively and simply alias to it in one step. Variables can be used to track power status, users, rooms, or to create options that change in all macros based on one button press by the user.

Narrow Band RF in either
418MHz or 433MHz

Narrow Band ensures that broad
band RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) will be ignored. However, RFI can also be site specific and centered on a particular band. For this reason, the MX-880 can be specified in either the standard 418MHz version or the MX-880i 433MHz Narrow Band version. Ensure reliability with the Narrow Band RFX-250 or RFX-250i (433MHz). The RFX-250 is included with both the MRF-350 Routing Base Station and the MSC-400 Master System Controller (specify "i" series for 433 MHz versions).

MSC-400 Compatibility

The MX-880 is compatible with the ultra-reliable MSC-400 "Trigger" protocol, which enables complex macros, stored in the MSC-400, to be individually triggered with a single button push on the MX-880 regardless of the interference and noise in the environment. The combination of very narrow transmission of digitally encoded packets sent THREE times at digital speeds in milliseconds assures that every button press on the remote will be received by the MSC-400. The MSC-400's sophisticated error correction circuitry stores all three packets and compares them. Once two packets are identified as identical, the MSC-400 goes to work. This new technology not only increases range, but increases reliability by a vast margin.

MX-980
Home Theater Master, IR/RF
Power Plus Style

The MX-980 is a powerful wand-style custom control designed to advance the state of the art of Home Theater programming and integration. Achieving an apex of power, style and versatility, it enables professional installers to more quickly and efficiently customize and automate sophisticated Home Theaters and whole house A/V systems -- while empowering their owners to handle them as naturally as a race car driver hugs the road.

Ideal for homes with one or more A/V systems, the MX-980 is as intuitive for installers to program as it is for users to operate. Its unique synergies automate and simplify operation of even the most complex home systems. Its many highlights include a big, bright color LCD display, an open programming architecture, Narrow Band RF capability, and seamless integration with other control devices.

Ergonomics and Customization

The MX-980's display shares the vibrant color capabilities of URC's popular MX-3000 Remote Control with an active matrix LCD that offers a 320x240 pixel window to any graphic an installer would like to provide, including BMP, JPEG, PNG, GIF and animated GIF files, all of which can be assigned to any of eight adjacent activity buttons.

Interoperability

The MX-980 also integrates more strongly than other remotes with URC's breakthrough MSC-400 Master System Controller. The MSC-400 flawlessly harnesses the power of sophisticated home entertainment systems to provide installers with options and advantages not otherwise available. It offers triggered macros, RS-232 and relay control, video and voltage sensors, and many more features -- taming system complexity, while delivering unmatched flexibility, automation power, installation speed, and diagnostic capabilities.

With or without the MSC-400, the MX-980 is an exceptionally versatile remote that delivers automation solutions for every purpose as well as superior entertainment. Like the MX-3000, the MX-980 is programmable by any Windows-compatible laptop or desktop PC with a USB port. The port provides access to a vast array of custom solutions, available free of charge using URC's proprietary Complete Control Suite programming software, available online at the URC Control Room.

Selecting a New "Activity"

WATCH and LISTEN buttons on the MX-980 display activities users can control. When a user wants to watch something else (a DVD, a videotape or an HDTV broadcast), he or she simply presses the WATCH button and selects the new activity. When a user wants to listen to the radio or a CD, he or she touches LISTEN. Then, with the press of the button, the MX-980 automates the entire routine of turning on components, selecting inputs and favorites, even resetting the lights to the optimum scene for the selected activity.

OpenArchitecture PC Editor

The MX-980's unique OpenArchitectureTM PC Editor provides professional installers with new solutions to the age-old problem of automating a central system as well as local TVs, cable or satellite receivers, and even local surround systems in secondary rooms like bedrooms and offices. Using the MX-980, installers can simply select an appropriate solution for each equipment location.

Built-In Versatility

In the central system, for example, the MX-980 can trigger sophisticated smart macros, RS232 and relay controls via a centrally installed MSC-400 Master Controller. At each local system location, the MX-980 addresses an RF Base Station, like URC's new MRF-260, which extends the remote's range to 50 to 100 feet, and eliminates the line-of-sight requirement. In any room with a projector, lighting switch or other IR-controlled device not connected to a central MSC-400 or local MRF, the MX-980's built-in IR signal is effective at a range of 30 to 50 feet.

Motion Sensor

The MX-980 is packed with practical features for users as well as installers. These include a motion sensor that automatically turns on the display when the remote is picked up and refreshes when it's moved, and automatic blue backlighting for all the buttons to ensure the remote can be used easily in dim or darkened rooms. A small integrated speaker optionally beeps in response to button pushes, indicating the MX-980 understands an instruction. A built-in time/date display, a low-battery alert, a rechargeable lithium ion battery, and a supplied USB programming cable further enhance its ease of use.
