Equipment power supplies have come a long way in the last few years. The change to digital switching has improved reliability, lowered weight, reduced size, increased output power, cut down on waste heat, and most importantly, vastly improved efficiency!

As production levels went up, they have even dropped in price to a point below the old transformer-based power supplies.
