Transient Voltage Surge supression (TVSS) devices help protect expensive equipment form powerline voltage surges. Surges can occur at any time due to lightning strikes, wind storms, power company equipment switching, etc. These devices are designed to protect anything from a single phone line or cable TV line, up to your whole house.
