You should use this special 'fire rated' cable to wire smoke and heat alarms. As well as runs to manual fire alarm pulls and fire alarm signals such as sirens, speakers, and flashers. Consult your local codes as they vary from area to area.
Rate-Of-Rise and fixed temperature heat detectors are not intended to replace smoke detectors as safety devices, but are for property protection only. They are useful in kitchens, where traditional smoke detectors false-trigger all too often. Connect as many as desired, in parallel, to an unused zone of your security system and set that zone up as a normally open fire zone. Single end-of-line resistor mode is strongly suggested for safety reasons.
The SR-5601P is the more common device. Use the SR-5604 in environmnents where the SR-5601P false-triggers.
