The Reference Point Bit is an extremely small (0.047" diameter) wire bit for preliminary identification of drill bit path. Made of 36" long spring wire, this bit can be cut at an angle and any length to make the smallest "reference" bit. Packaged as a convenient 10-pack.

Chuck it up and drill a hole first with this bit. Once through, check and see if it comes out exactly where you want. If not, pull the reference bit out and try again. The hole is so small that repairing the hole is easy in sheetrock and wood, and unnecessary under carpet.
