Vertical Raintight Shanty
Outdoor semi-flush housing designed to protect indoor surface devices mounted on exterior walls.
For new construction. Mount this box to the bare sheathing (plywood, particle board, etc.) before siding or stucco. The box is only 2' deep, so most installers cut out the sheathing in the box, giving access to the studbay inside the wall. (Be sure to check local building codes before doing this because you may be breaking the vapor barrier.) If the other side of the wall (which is now the back of the box) is sheetrock, you can glue a piece of plywood tothe back of the opening with construction glue.
