- Heavy gauge steel protects wires and pipes from sheetrock screws and nails.
- If your wires or pipes go through the stud less than 1.5" from the edge of the stud, according to code, you must install a nail-plate.
- If you drill a hole in a 2x4 stud larger than 3/4", you must use a nail plate on the sheetrock side(s) of the stud.
