The Sentrol 1078 Series Steel Door contacts are designed specifically for use in the steel doors commonly found in commercial building applications. The unique housing design features a rugged unibody construction with flexible ribbed sides for quick, secure installation without gluing. The magnet housing isolates the magnet from the surrounding steel for maximum gap distances, both make and break.

Most reed switches are "normally closed" (the switch is closed when the magnet is near the switch.) Most security systems are wired with normally closed reed switches. Normally open switches are a bit more complicated to make, are a bit more expensive, and are normally not used with security systems.
Normally open reed switches are useful for automation tasks. Connect the 507381BW to a 6330 PowerFlash controller and send a command to turn on a light when the garage door is open, or connect the 507381BW to home automation controllers such as ActiveHome or HomeVision.

The Sentrol Roller Plunger contacts save installation time while providing reliable magnetic contact security. The contact switch is activated when the door opens, releasing the tension on the wheel plunger. Drill only one hole to mount the roller plungers; the entire magnetic contact is housed in a economical single unit. Recessed mounting hides the contact within the frame of the door it protects.
