This antenna is electrically virtually identical to the Channel Master 4228. The main difference is that this antenna is shipped "broken down" in a much smaller box. It is therefore easier and cheaper to ship, and can be installed in locations, such as an attic, that the 4228 would not fit into. This antenna is often used to receive HDTV signals broadcast on the UHF band. The high gain and directionality make this our best antenna for HDTV reception in the Bay Area. In this area, most HDTV stations are on the UHF band and broadcast from one tower in San Francisco. San Francisco is 60+ miles from many urban areas in the Bay Area and there are many surrounding hills that cause "multipath" problems. The PR8800 is THE antenna of choice in this area. The high gain makes the long shoot possible, and the directionality takes care of the multipath problem. Included is a kit that allows the antenna to be connected directly to a 75 ohm coax cable. It includes the balun, weather boot and S clip.
