How Do I ... Run Composite Video Through Coax?
It's very simple; Since composite video is a relatively low bandwidth 75 ohm signal, it can be carried over great distances with good quality RG6 coaxial cable. At worst, when running 500 to 1000 feet, the peak voltage of the signal may drop a little, which would make the picture slightly darker. This is usually not noticeable. RG6 dual shield or quad shield is most commonly used.
The easiest and cheapest connector to put on the end of RG6 coaxial cable is the "F" connector. Our most popular combination of coax termination tools and materials is:
"But my composite signal is an RCA (or BNC) connector" you say? No problem. Simple adaptors convert the F connector to either RCA or BNC.
Also, with RG6 and F connectors, you can use standard quickport wallplates to bring the composite signals in and our of walls, if desired.
